In his commentary on the Sermon on the Mount John Stott says the following,
"The Sermon on the Mount is probably the best-known part of the teaching of Jesus…it is the nearest thing to a manifesto that he ever uttered, for it is his own description of what he wanted his followers to be and to do."
This is His sermon! Jesus shows us what discipleship looks like in the present world with the presence and power of the Kingdom of God. And what does that discipleship look like? It looks different! Different from the world around us; different because we are citizens of God's kingdom. The Sermon on the Mount shows us what it looks like when we shines like light in the prevailing darkness. Lets pray and expect great things from God in this series!
