Truth Quest Update

Greetings, Parents!

TruthQuest_TGP-CircleLogo-KidsI wanted to take a moment to give you an update on all that’s been happening with Truth Quest over the past several months.

I’ve recently spent time with the admin teams and lead teachers that serve in Truth Quest and it’s been wonderful to see and interact with the community of volunteers that serve our children. I’ve quickly found them to be a group of people that regularly encourages and supports one another. I’m grateful that this is the example being put before our children and more than that; it represents the type of church we want to be a part of building!

I wanted to make you all aware of a change that is taking place. We are switching the curriculum that we are currently using to a new program. There’s nothing “wrong” with what we’ve been using – actually, we wanted to maintain a few core items from the current curriculum, such as:

  • A Chronological Overview of Scripture
  • A Gospel Centered view of the stories that we’re presenting

Our main goal is to better equip our teachers with the tools they need to create a more engaging learning environment for our children. We also wanted something that better equips parents to interact with what we’re learning together. We think we’ve found exactly what we are looking for in our new curriculum: The Gospel Project for Kids

One thing you may hear me say about what we cover in Truth Quest is this:

“We want the truth we talk about to land at kitchen tables all around Casselberry and the grater Orlando area.”

What I mean is; we’re looking for the truth from God’s Word to change us as we interact with it. That’s the role of the Holy Spirit in all of our hearts and lives, we pray for this on a regular basis.  We see this update to our curriculum as an aid in this process for our families as well.

The timing of this change was important as well, as the curriculum we had been using was coming to the end of the Old Testament Stories. The Gospel Project for Kids also provides specific studies on Easter and Christmas so there is opportunity to learn more about those stories during the appropriate seasons.

With all of this in mind; beginning this Palm Sunday (13th), our children will be learning about Jesus our King, Easter Sunday (20th) they’ll learn of the Resurrected Savior and on the 27th they’ll study Jesus’ appearance to His Disciples. The month of May will close out our Old Testament studies and in June, they will begin their journey into the New Testament.

You’ll see new materials coming home and posts in the coming weeks keeping you up to date with what we’re studying and serving as a guide for interacting with the Truth Quest materials in your own homes.

There are also some additional resources you might find helpful via the Gospel Project App (available in either the iTunes or the Android stores). Please note: There is a cost to you individually for the materials provided through the app.

If you have any questions on this change or about Truth Quest in general, please feel free to call me at the church office or email me directly.

I’m grateful for the privilege that it is to invest in the next generation like this. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the church in this way!
