Busy or Fruitful?

For most of us today marks the day where things get back to normal from the holidays. And "normal" for many of us may also include a good degree of busyness. As we saw from Luke 8:4-15 on Sunday, Jesus desires more than busyness for his disciples. We were redeemed and are given God's Word that we might be fruitful. In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus makes the point that the fundamental difference between a fruitful life and an unfruitful one is how we hear God's Word. Fruitfulness is wrapped up in our response to the Word of God.

How are we going to posture ourselves in 2013 to be fruitful the way God defines fruitfulness? Two questions from Sunday's message may help. In the decisions we make we need to ask, "Is this decision going to make my life more fruitful for the kingdom of God? Is this decision going to help me to hear and respond to God’s Word?"

For those who would desire a little more help clearing the fog surrounding this issue of busyness, I heartily reccomend this series of posts by Kevin DeYoung.
