Build: A Gospel Community of Gospel Disciples Maturing By Gospel Words

Ok, I admit it. That title is way too long! But I just couldn’t find a simpler way to capture what I hope we all long for as Christians. That long title is at the vey heart of who we want to be and what we want to build here at Metro. It is what Peter encouraged the scattered church he wrote to in his letters. He wanted the church to see that when the Gospel of Jesus Christ saved them, that same Gospel created a new community with new possibilities. It was possible that they could love one another in a way they never could before. It was possible that they could share in each other's growth in a way they never could before. It was possible for ordinary moments to become extraordinary moments of encouraging one another. It was possible to see that pastoral care was a community project, and not just for a few ordained clergy.

007_build_sermonIMGA priesthood of believers, where everyone had a vision to see the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on display, by investing in other lives, was possible. And it possible now. As one of your pastors the thing that excites me the most is that I see it happening all throughout our church! This is a church filled with people who love Jesus, who know they need His grace day by day, and who are desirous to share that grace with others. That is what will "BUILD" Metro Life Church.

We all bring our mess, our stumbling and sin to the community, but God is at work through all of that as we "love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again…(1 Peter 1:22)". I hope you are getting a greater vision for your part in that. Just take the love of Jesus that is in you and share it with another; that is how we BUILD!
